This product is used for the in vitro quantitative determination of ox-LDL levels in human serum. Clinically, it is primarily applied for the auxiliary diagnosis of coronary heart disease (CHD) and atherosclerosis-related disorders.
Product Description
Ox-LDL is formed when the ApoB protein on LDL particles becomes oxidized. Ox-LDL is recognized by scavenger receptors on macrophages which engulf ox-LDL, leading to foam cell formation which in turn initiates atherosclerosis and enhances vascular inflammation.
l Ox-LDL is atherogenic and directly involved in the initiation and progression of the atherosclerotic disease process.
l Ox-LDL is a predictive biomarker for the sub-clinical development of atherosclerosis and subsequent events.
l The only blood test that identifies Atherosclerotic Disease activity in the artery wall.
Nearly 50% of CAD patients with ‘normal’ LDL levels
In a study of over 136,000 coronary artery disease (CAD) hospitalizations at hundreds of hospitals, approximately 50% of those patients had LDL <100 mg/dL and 17.6% of patients had LDL < 70 mg/dL, at admission. Less than 1/3 of the patients had LDL >130 mg/dL.1

Better biomarkers are needed for prediction, diagnosis, treatment and monitoring!
Hundreds of publications have established and confirmed the role of oxidized LDL in cardiovascular disease and its association with other conditions (e.g., obesity, diabetes, PCOS, etc.). The positive correlation between blood levels of oxidized LDL and % of patients with CAD (Figure 1b) has been shown to be much stronger than the correlation between LDL and % of patients with CAD ( Figure 1a).2
